Engineering Services

Cranes and other lifting equipment often have to be specific to a customer’s needs. The height of the equipment, the amount of weight it has to handle, the conditions under which it will be operating – these and many other factors have to be taken into consideration when helping a customer choose the right equipment or tailoring existing models to fit specific needs. Webco has a team of engineers with years of experience in material handling equipment design. We have capabilities to build customized equipment to make it perfectly suitable to your needs.

Welding

Webco is CWB-certified. We offer advanced welding techniques to create custom products tailored to the needs of our clients. We are capable of handling common materials such as steel and aluminum, as well as softer metals like brass and copper.

Inspection & Certification

In accordance with Ontario’s Health and Safety Act, cranes have to be inspected once a year to ensure that they operate in a safe and reliable manner. Webco offers a complete inspection service and provides preventative maintenance, as well. Our inspection services can be performed onsite or brought to our facilities.

Inspection includes:

  • Detailed inspection of load hooks, load chain or wire ropes
  • Operational testing to determine possible internal gear problems
  • Checking all oil levels in gearboxes, brakes and electrical contacts
  • Performance of minor adjustments where required

Webco certifies cranes when they meet the requirements of Ontario’s Health and Safety Act. We are committed to ensuring that our customers are safe and their lifting equipment meets or exceeds industry standards.

Installation

Our team of professionals will assist you in choosing the right crane to suit your application needs, facility size, and operating conditions. We will then provide proper onsite installation of the lifting equipment to make sure that it is positioned and operates in accordance with safety regulations.

Training & Safety

Webco offers certified crane training, forklift training and safety handling seminars. Webco crane operations certification follows regulations set out by the Occupational Health and Safety Act R.R.O.1990, Reg.851 for Industrial Establishments, Section 51(2)(a).

A typical 4-5 hour course in crane operation will cover the following:

  • Crane training and basic safe rigging course
  • Forklift training
  • Safe operation of overhead cranes
  • Daily crane inspection
  • Selection, care, and inspection of rigging equipment
  • Chain sling inspection

Each participant will receive a workbook and chain sling inspection kit to keep. Hands-on training will be provided – we will practice safe operation on one of the cranes in the plant.
